Springtime is the season of new beginnings and refreshing, while fall is the time when nature goes to bed and people spend more time indoors. There are wonderful things to do for fun in spring and fall, but these seasons are also best for preparing for summer and winter, respectively. How can you differentiate spring cleaning and fall cleaning? Let’s see an overview of both, both of which can help you live your best life in your new Maryland home.

Spring Cleaning Overview

Spring cleaning is about refreshing the indoors after a long winter inside. It is a time to launder all fabrics, including window curtains and couch cushions, clean carpets, and generally refresh the indoor air entirely through decluttering and deep cleaning. 

Aside from deep cleaning your flooring and fabrics, you can also deep clean your kitchen and laundry appliances. After all the holiday cooking, holiday food storage, and many sweaters washed, your oven, fridge, washer, and dryer could use refreshing.

As kitchens and bathrooms are generally the dirtiest rooms, you can spend extra time decluttering and cleaning these spaces. You could even wipe down the trash cans inside and out. 

After a total spring cleaning, your house will be free of mustiness and grime.

Fall Cleaning Overview

Fall cleaning prepares the home for winter weather and activities. In the home, it is another great time to rid the house of dirt from summer fun. Again, the tasks would include laundering, washing, and deep cleaning the flooring, all surfaces, and potentially your curtains, upholstery, and bedding. 

Fall is also a great time to wipe down your windows, which accumulate pollen and dirt throughout the year. Check for any gaps and apply caulk or another material to seal windows and doors against winter weather.

Once again, it is also a great time to deep clean your kitchen and bathrooms. Your kitchen can use all the help it can get before you prepare holiday meals, and bathrooms could generally use sanitizing and descaling.

Organizational Tips and Expectations

It can be helpful to make a list per task or room. Don’t worry if you don’t finish the list within one weekend. It is normal to take a couple of weeks to complete a detailed house cleaning list.
